Face 2 Face Competition Rules

Section 0 - Introduction

Safety Guidelines

The safety of competitors, judges, and spectators is paramount. As a competitor, you assume full responsibility for your vehicle's operation and its sound system. Please keep in mind the following safety considerations:

  1. Vehicle Safety:
    • Operation of a motor vehicle is inherently dangerous. Ensure that your vehicle does not pose a risk to yourself or others.
    • Follow all local traffic laws.
    • You are responsible for any movement of your vehicle within the competition area.
  2. Hearing Protection:
    • Sound systems in competition vehicles can generate dangerously high sound pressure levels.
    • Protect yourself and others from potential hearing damage.
    • Follow local laws regarding sound levels.
  3. Electrical and Structural Safety:
    • All components (speakers, amplifiers, enclosures) must be securely installed to prevent injury in case of an accident.
    • If your vehicle is structurally modified for competition, a safety inspection is required.
  4. Liability:
    • Face 2 Face event organizers, officials, and sponsors are not liable for any loss or damage, including equipment failure, financial losses, or injuries.
  5. Image Usage:
    • By competing, you grant Face 2 Face the right to use your name, image, and competition-related information for promotional purposes.

Microphone Setup

  1. The microphone shall be placed 1 meter away from the last endpoint of the vehicle.
  2. The microphone height must be at least 45 cm from the ground.
  3. The space 1 meter in front of the microphone must remain clear of any objects.

Section 1 - dB Drag Rules

General Competition Guidelines

  1. Frequency Limit:
    • The competition frequency range is 63 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
  2. Program Material:
    • Competitors can use any source unit designed to play music (CD players, MP3 players, smartphones, tablets, etc.).
    • Wireless and wired connections (RCA, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.) are allowed.
    • All competitors must play one of the  songs , which will be provided by the judge.
  3. Competition Execution:
    • Competitors may adjust their sound system while being measured as long as no rules are breached.
    • The engine may run at a maximum idle speed of 2000 RPM.
    • The parking brake must be engaged, wheels must be chocked, and the hood must remain closed.
    • Competitors have 60 seconds to achieve their highest SPL reading.
    • Ιf the competitor needs a rerun this has to be back to back (Only 1 re-run allowed) 
    • In case of a Tie for 1st - 3rd place only an additional rerun will be provided to finalize the outcome of the place in question.
  4. Class Entry Limitations:
    • Each competition vehicle may in more than one class per event with a different competitor name as long as no other applicable rule is violated.

Classes

Street Class

Only cars with factory sound system’s will compete or with changed speakers or add on amps as long as the amp is ultra stealth (no visible equipment or cables)

Normal (N) Classes:

Normal Classes considered those with speakers in doors, door panels or the rear deck

The cars competing with even number of speakers those speakers should be symmetrical in the doors. (e.g If a car competing with 4 speakers, each door should have 2 speakers symmetrical to the opposite)

  • N 1-4
  • N 5-8
  • N 9-13
  • N 14-24
  • N 25+

Open Classes:

  • Open 1-6
  • Open 7-12
  • Open 13-24
  • Open 25+
  • Extreme Class

Specific Guidelines for Face 2 Face

  1. Sound System Installation:

o    Equipment cannot be installed temporarily for the event; all components must be securely fixed in the vehicle.

  1. Extreme Speaker Box Placement:

o    The speaker box may extend up to 10 cm beyond the vehicle’s rear endpoint.

o    The trunk lid must remain fully open to its factory maximum height.

o    For pickups, the speaker box must remain fixed in its measurement position.

  1. Box and Speaker Regulations:

o    The number of speakers must match the selected category.

o    Speaker boxes must not be tilted or angled beyond the vehicle’s natural incline.

  1. Vehicle Condition:

o    No obstructions, wood, or banners may be placed between the vehicle bumper and the ground.

  1. Audio Processing Restrictions:

o    Processors may be used, but frequency distortion or modifications that alter intelligibility are prohibited.

o    Judges may request repeated measurements if any violations are suspected.

  1. Electrical System Rules:

o    12V – 18V amplifier systems only.

o    No restrictions on battery type, quantity, or size.

o    Remote controls, smartphones, or off-vehicle applications may control the system.

  1. Competition Format:

o    Single Measurment format.

o    Two runs back to back  are allowed.

By competing in Face 2 Face, you agree to abide by these rules and accept any final rulings made by the event judges.
